Past Student Work

Final Video

Positives of the music video;

  • good use of camera angles
  • shots in and out of focus
  • 'Alice in Wonderland' Theme

Negatives on the Music video;

  • Singer looks too happy for the genre of the song
  • some shots were too dark

Magazine Advert & Digipak

The Magazine Advert and Digipak follow the same theme, they both include images from the music video itself.

The magazine advert includes the artist title, the song title, ratings, where to get the album/single from and websites that relate to the music.

The digipak includes title, artist , image, barcode, track list, and disc holder.

COVERDUDE.COM

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

This is a real Digipak that i found on coverdude.com. I like this digipak as it is really girly and pink. It has lots of colour and would appeal to girls. I think our didgipak may be very much like this as our music video is about two girls.
The front cover has the title of the album and the name of the artist.

The back cover has the track list and a barcode. Instead of 'o' there are swirls. this adds a fun element to the track list.
The CD has the same swirls that replace the 'o' on the track list .

Digipak

Today in Lesson we looked at a digipak that had lots of images in cartoon frames on the inside of the digipak. We thought that this would be a good idea for our digipak as we have taken many pictures whilst out filming or our music video and it will be hard to chose only a few to use.

Filming Session #2

Today we went to eastbrook end country park to film as we want to get footage with horses in the background and we managed to achieve this :)

LONDON FILMING!!!

Today me Hannah and Harley went to London to get cracking on some filming.
We went to Camden,Trafalgar square, Embankment, Green park and Buckingham Palace

When we was a Trafalgar square we were approached by some scary security guards who asked us what we were doing. We had to explain that we were from Robert Clack School and that we were doing our music video. We then had to show them our student cards, and with their agreement we were able to carry on filming.

After a long and stressful day of filming we all just wanted to go home.

Another Filming Session

Today we filmed at Goodmayse park.
Me and Harley dressed up as "Gangsters" and we filmed some mid-shots of Harley lip syncing on her own and some mid-shots o me and Harley lip syncing.

What is a Digipak

A Digipak is a six panel CD case usually made of card that folds along the spine.
The digipak may be used to promote the single/album. This could be done by using bright colours or lots of pictures dependant on the target audience.

What we learnt from Preliminary Exercise

Today we filmed and started editing our preliminary exercise.
Me and Harley lip synced to the first minute of "Don't go breaking my heart" By
We used 3 different shots; one shot was me and Harley lip syncing together, then the other two shots were of us lip syncing on our own. We though that these would be good shots to use when editing.
Today we leant that editing together a music sequence is much harder that putting together a sequence of a film. When editing you need to be able to get the timing on the footage exactly in time with the music. And cutting and editing the footage together so it fits with the music style is difficult.
Here is our outcome

Oh Land - White Nights

I've put this on my blog because i really like this music video. The song is upbeat and the music video is full of random things and lots of fun. This is what we would like our music video to be like and this has been part of our inspiration.

Daisy Dares You

Daisy May Keeley Coburn is a 17 year old British singer/songwrtiter who is known by her stage name 'Daisy Dares You'

We think that as Daisy is of a very similar age to us it will be easy to relate to her song "Rosie" and easy to make a music video from our ideas.

Justification Of Ideas

Daisy Dares You is 18, therefore we thought that this is an advantage as she has a young voice. When Harley is lip syncing it will be more realistic that it is actually Harley singing.
The song is about the friendship of two girls, so our music video will show the relationship between two girls, one of them will be the singer, and the other will be the friend, 'Rosie'.
Throughout the music video Harley(the singer) will be in different locations, lip syncing and I (Rosie) will be in lots of random footage or will be beside Harley whilst she is lip syncing.
The genre of this song is POP/ROCK so throughout our music video we will use bright colours and we will try to make our video fun, exciting  and upbeat.

Case Study - Jamie Thraves

Jamie Thraves is a Director. He started his journey by making short films during hi time at university. One of his short films won an award and he therefore used this as a 'callin card' to 'get his foot in the door' with the video production company 'Factory Films'. He began by shooting three very low budget music videos costing only £5000 each. Now hes music videos usually cost around £20,000.

Actors

In our music video we have decided to use
HARLEY MASON

She is our main actor in our music video. We have chose Harley as she is very confident and we know that she wont have a problem performing infront of a camera.

For our Sub-Character 'ROSIE' we have decided to use me. I wont be doing any lip syncing but i'll be in the music video in the random parts of footage.
GEORGIA WIGLEY
